What happens if I get an inconclusive COVID PCR result?

Inconclusive results- what to do

An inconclusive result means it was not possible to say if you had coronavirus at the time when you took your sample. This could be because an insufficient sample was collected and not enough of your sample material was found on the swab. It could also be because the swab was contaminated with food, drinks, or chewing gum. Typically, an inconclusive result occurs in young children, and less so in adults.

The lab would inform us of the inconclusive result, and attempt to process it a second time; however, if a result is not possible, a member of our Customer Service Team will get in touch with you and a replacement kit will be dispatched out for a re-sample.
